To start using our X3M Website Report plugin you need to follow these steps:
1. Install the plugin in your WordPress website
- Download the plugin if you haven’t done so already.
- Go to your WordPress admin dashboard and visit the Plugins page.
- Here you must click on “Add Plugin” button at the top of the page.
- Next, click on “Upload Plugin” button also at the top of the page. From this point you can click on “Choose File” and browse to the plugin archive x3m-webreport.zip you just downloaded from our website.
- Click on “Install Now” and wait for the plugin to be installed in WordPress. When installed, click to activate it.
2. Activate the plugin
- Visit X3M Web Report in your WP admin dashboard. You will find it un the left side menu.
- At the top left side of the page see for the “Plugin Status”. Click on “ACTIVATE” button and wait for activation confirmation. If activation fails, check for the plugin requirements in the right side of the page. Make any adjustments to your hosting plan as required and reattempt plugin activation.
- Visit the “Settings” page of the plugin to make the first settings.
3. Settings
The Settings page of the plugin offers different options to customize the plugin functionality:
General Settings
- Enable DoFollow Links – by default, all reports generated by the plugin will set the links of the analysed domains as “nofollow”. By activating this option, new links will be set as “dofollow”, providing better link juice, improving SEO.
- Enable Deep Link Analysis – this options allows generation of SEO/value reports to deep-links inside a website. If option is not enabled, no matter the link used by user to generate the report, the system will only analyse the root domain/subdomain.
- Enable Multiple Deep Links Publishing – this option requires the the WooCommerce plugin (the main WordPress ecommerce plugin, offering product setup and various payment processing options) alongside our X3M WooToken plugin installed to act as connector between X3M WebReport and WooCommerce. When this option is activated, the admin can require a fee for inclusion of multiple links inside a report generated. Paid reports can be more appealing as the links included in the report are set to be “dofollow”, offering therefore better SEO value.
- Maximum Deep Links – this feature works in connection with above option to enable multiple deep links publishing, with the admin having the option to set a maximum limit of deeplinks to be submitted alongside with the main request.
API Settings
- Google PageSpeed API Key – the API for Google PageSpeed is required for several report features which include page speed rating and screenshot generation. If this key is not set and option disabled, these report indicators will not work, therefore should not be included in the report template.
- OpenAI API Key – the API for OpenAI is required if you want to integrate AI into the report by providing it a specific task during the generation process. Answers will come back be published inside the report.
- Claude API Key – the API for Claude is required if you want to integrate AI into the report by providing it a specific task during the generation process. Answers will come back be published inside the report.
- Google Safe Browsing API Key – the API for Google Safe Browsing is required for getting the safe browsing indicator. This key can be the same as the one set for Google PageSpeed.
Security Settings
- Blocked Keywords – this text area can be used to set keywords blocked from reports generated. If a website contains these keywords, the report has several stages which can be set up at next step.
- Blocked Keywords Action – here is where you set what happens with the report generated for a website containing blocked keywords: Block Report and stop website analysis or Accept Report with a nofollow link (even if you would have enabled the dofollow in the plugin).
- Blocked Domains – you can set a list of domains which will not be verified/reports generated.
Remember to SAVE SETTINGS at the end for your choices to take effect.
4. Template
The Template page of the plugin offers the option to set and manage the template of the report, using a WP post style editor and shortcodes to organize and display content collected during the analysis. Admin can customize the title of the posts/reports generated, can choose the category where reports are published, tags, report content where a mix of shortcodes for data inclusion can be used alongside admin content. SEO settings are also available, when the plugin detects a SEO plugin like Yoast SEO installed in WordPress.
All available shortcodes for use are listed in the right side of the template editor. Remember to SAVE TEMPLATE at the end.
5. Shortcodes
The Shortcodes page of the plugin offers the option to enable or disable different indicators from being analyzed during the report generation. This way the admin can choose and keep only data that needs to be included in the report. Some of the shortcodes here may require API enabling (Page Speed, Safe Browsing, Screenshot, AI content generation).
A good part of the indicators also come with several tips fields based on the rating value received, which can be customized to display in generated reports recommended actions. We highly recommend changing the warding here. This enables the website owner to truly make the reports generated unique, with no 2 websites alike.

The Reports page lists all the latest reports generated, with the option to view domain, their status or edit them.
