WebCompressor – free image compression tool

WebCompressor.net was developed as a free online tool to offer image compression / size reduction, accessible online to anyone needing such a service. While there are already other similar tools on the Internet, we felt compelled to bring this service to anyone, with no limitations and no cost, and more importantly, privacy focused.

That is why WebCompressor – online image compressor came to life, to offer a secure and professional alternative, allowing users/webmasters to compress images on-the-fly, regardless of file format like .jpg, .png, .webp, .svg or .gif. The compression follows two main algorithms, Lossy option which has highest compression rate, but comes with a slight loss of image quality (nevertheless ideal for websites, with quality loss hardly visible) and Lossness option, with no quality loss but lower compression rates, ideal for professional photographers or those needing their pictures preserved at hight quality for print or other requirements.

What Web Compressor Does?

web compressorThe WebCompressor service started as a free online image compression tool, with privacy in mind, focused on processing images directly in web browser (the pictures never reach the WebCompressor servers). From this point onwards, the tool was developed to support more file formats and offer improved conversion rates. Users can reach even a 90% image size reduction using the compressor – meaning less space required to hold them on the disk, while website owners can improve page speed reducing the overall size served by their servers (less bandwidth used, faster page speed, improved SEO). Free to access and free to use, the only limitation comes in the number of images processed in bulk each time (set at maximum 20 images) – and this limit is rather technical, to avoid web browser crashing.

Next step was to add more image tools which many users required, and that included the image resizer (which allows to resize images to a set maximum width/height, preserving aspect ratio), image file format conversion (which allows to convert images between .jpg, .png or .webp), image watermark (which allows to apply a watermark on images, customising text, size and color), image to PDF converter (for users looking to add images to .pdf files), and lastly, a minify tool which minifies JavaScript code, CSS code and HTML code, reducing file sizes by even 60%.
